  • What is psychiatry?
    Psychiatry is the branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an M.D. or D.O.) who specializes in mental health. Psychiatrists are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems.
  • How are your services different than a psychologist or therapist?
    A psychiatrist is a medical doctor, which means they look closely at a variety of factors to determine the best possible treatment. Psychiatrists will consider biology and neurochemistry when diagnosing a patient, and can prescribe medications as they deem neccessary.
  • How do I know if CPA services are appropriate for my child?
    You must discuss your childs needs with your family doctor to determine if a referral to Child Psychiatry Associates is right for your child.
  • How much do CPA services cost?
    Child Psychiatry Associates services are covered under Alberta's Healthcare Act. A vaild Alberta Healthcare Card/Number is needed to access our services.
  • Why haven't I heard back after submitting a referall?
    Upon acceptance of a referral, a notification is sent to your referring provider with an expected wait time. Wait times can vary based on the number of referalls received, as well as needs of current patients. When an appointment becomes available, we will contact you.
  • Who are the CPA doctors?
